Friend gets money from California unemployment but lives and spends it in Mexico
He was an Uber/Lyft driver that filed for unemployment at the start of covid and has gotten it since. He has probably made $20,000+ so far without having to work at all. He lives in Mexico and parties all the time, bought an apartment and lives large. Doesn’t work a single job. He comes back to America soon to go to music festivals and party. Crazy how he just gets this money no questions asked. How does this make you, a California income tax payer, feel?

However, perhaps the person is just visiting family. US Citizens or Residents are entitled to their benefits (UI is one of those things funded and organized jointly by the public and private sector), so perhaps it’s not bad. It’s hard to say
He had a full ride scholarship to UCSB but failed out 3 times - for one excuse he made a fake death certificate of grandfather in Mexico to say why his grades as bad. He still has scholarship somehow but is still undergrad with 2 years to go and he’s been attending for almost 10 years now. I think he finally dropped out now since he married a Mexican woman

You need to show proof that you applied to 2 jobs each week. S applying to jobs you’re unqualified is a workaround
