From full time SDE to Microsoft contract

Is it a good idea to accept Microsoft SDE contract position via a vendor firm, given almost same salary? For sure, benefits, especially PTOs, are not as good as the current. I haven't aced interviews for full time positions, so I think it may be a fair chance, not best though. Base salary: 140k YoE: 8 yrs Any comments are welcome

Do you know wether there’s a path to convert to FTE? Do you know what you’ll be working on and wether it’s more interesting/ has learnings compared to where you are right now?

Compared to my current work, the project the Microsoft team is working on is much closer to my interest, strengh and passion.

And, the team got only assigned only vendor budget, but if they got full time budget, I was told they are trying to convert the role to full time.

The full time conversion rate is very low. You should assume you won't be converted. With that out of the way, judge on its own merits.

I totally got it. Though the vendor said that, I don't assume the conversion happen. I consider it's a good learning chance, but worry NO learning with doing just repetive tasks in the contract role.

How much is the vendor salary?

Alaska Airlines uxVJ22 OP Dec 18, 2019

As same as 140k, plus basic benefits (health insurance + 10 PTOs).
