I'm currently working as a product lead in a mid size company. I'm managing 3 product owners. This is my first role where I start managing people and I can tell, I suck at it. However I recently received an offer from Careem (Uber company) with an increase in my overall pay but I will be a senior product manager. I find it difficult to make my mind about the offer. As I feel if I jump into a senior product manager it would be a downgrade. I have lots of ups and downs with my team now. But overall I have full autonomy from the C level in my current company. I also speak directly with the C level as I'm in the middle management now. I'm not sure how to evaluate such situations, any advice? #productmanager #product #pm
Slightly downleveled role at a much more prestigious company is worth it, especially if TC goes up.
Why is careem a good opportunity if Uber just bought them?
Hi can you share the TC offered?
people downlevel often in product management for the right opportunity. are you trying to escape managing people?
I didn't apply. The HR reached out to me via LinkedIn.... That's my fear. If I leave, it would be I have escaped from managing people while it is an opportunity for me to grow. While on the other hand. Careem's opportunity seems to be attractive... I actually don't have an idea how to tackle this.
as long as you have a convincing story around why you took the job (bigger impact product, more control, control of p/l) then its doable
