Front End Interviewing

I'm interviewing at a couple of places currently. One place my recruiter brought me gave my a timed code challenge after a phone screen. Anyone else think that is a bit weird? From my experiences it's usually after an on site. It was meaningless work, rebuilding a game in a front-end framework. Any thoughts? I'm considering telling my recruiter I'm not interested in the role anymore because I don't think they're focused on a pleasant experience for the candidates. The project wouldn't be possible to complete in the time given, even for a senior level FE in my book.

In most of my interviews in the past, coding challenge came after a phone interview with hiring manager, before on site.

I think the size of the company does not make any different of the process.

  • If you feel like it's a waste of your time, skip out on it. I refused an interview with a startup once because the team's tech lead spent our phone "interview" droning about the life history of the company's founder and name-dropping the sexy technologies they used.
