Never done the phone screen but used to interview for front-end roles when I used to work there. I would have asked some specific questions about JS, CSS and HTML and some open ended ones about certain topics - e.g ‘your opinion on JS frameworks’ and however you answer that, might dig in a bit more if you have some experience in that area (previous job, side projects etc).
