In last 2-3 years, I am seeing a lot of ads on youtube especially in US where bunch of randos standing in front of probably a rented Lamborghini and trying to sell some strategy to
Make a million very quickly in wall street or on amazon. They tell stories like how they made 1 million a month from 5k$ , blah blah blah

I want to hear peopleโ€™s experiences about them if they are genuine or absolute douchebags. I hope those jerks are not here in blind

  • If those strategies really work that well, why donโ€™t they just keep repeating the success to billionaires? Why bother spending the money on YouTube ads teaching others? Never see any mutual fund trying to teach their strategies.

    • Yeah this is why I donโ€™t trust them one iota. To play devils advocate though, the same strategies that could get you to 1M canโ€™t get you to 1B. Volumes do change things dramatically. A big part of finance at the upper levels is finding strategies that work at scale for billions of dollars. Often times stocks are tough because you have to buy in smaller chunks and when the market knows youโ€™re trying to buy a ton the price will go up as you execute your orders.

If you had a money press you would use it for yourself.

There are genuine voices but they preach things that are less sexy: prudent budgeting, long term investment...

  • This a good thread. Internet full of snake oil salesmen, but curious if anyone took the bait and it paid off

From what I heard they have two accounts and they make opposite trades on each account. Towards the end of the day, they pick the account that made money and show it as their account to make it believable that they are actually profitable.

Another trick I heard is that they rent a nice car and some super big Airbnb, sometimes also in sharing, then make enough footage for a few months and use the footage on a regular basis.

Not fully sure if everyone is in the same bucket, but i would be very careful about someone who charges money upfront.

    • The other way is to send 2 opposite trades to a large set of people, half of them will get get trade that works and half will not.. then next day repeat the process with the set of people where the trade was correct and so on. After a few days, there will be a group of people who tjinm you got 5-6 trades completely correct ๐Ÿ™„

  • Trading firms hire best talent, manage humongous data and spend millions on computing power alone to try for higher double digit returns. And they spend money on non competes to keep the strategies a secret.
Then their are these guys who know how to convert 5k in 1 million in a month and they are spending money on ads because they are dying to tell you their strategies. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Maybe the strategy is to spend 5k on youtube ads and raise 1 mil from people interested. That way they can be correct. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

  • This strategy is employed over and over again by pretty much anyone trying to sell you advice. Even bridgewater uses this strategy
