“Disney’s public explanation for choosing Star over Hulu overseas focused on a marketing issue” “Disney was concerned about an additional cost looming on the horizon in January 2024. ...Disney agreed to buy out Comcast Corp.’s one-third ownership share in Hulu at a price to be determined later. ...[the] stake was worth about $9 billion.” Disney isn’t incentivized to grow Hulu before Jan 2024...so what happens to it? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-16/disney-s-streaming-ambitions-sideline-hulu-s-international-growth #entertainment #media
The reason Hulu still exists is that it wants to keep all the ABC, FX, etc content that isn’t ‘family friendly’ or fits into its tight box of a brand on another service to still be watched and get the $$$. Brand is everything to Disney.
Will Disney shut down Hulu
Yes! It will soon enough merge Hulu you D+ as it already has with some of the teams and soon will shut it down so it doesn't have to pay Comcast or Hulu or anyone else for the same content. They'll soon integrate the "adult" content with the "kids" contents on the same platform but will categorize it so parents can limit to only "kids" section
So is Hulu hiring SWE or should people just apply to Disney
Hulu is still hiring SWE separately for Hulu
