title^

went through a hellish job hunt mostly from the Amazon burnout and currently am really enjoying Twitter.

Now all this news is bumming me out as I’m expecting that Twitter will be acquired by PE/Elon => layoffs.

Help me plan it out here: should I start leetcoding? or wait to see the process and start finding a new job once a deal is announced? or once a deal is closed?

fwiw I guess I can boomerang back or see if I can reactivate offers I had ~6+ months ago but I’m sort of at that 6 month point from when I got offers, <6 months tenure at Twitter

YOE: 4.5
TC: /shrug 284k estimated according to the contract I signed

I am currently talking to a Twitter recruiter, they have plans to hire a lot. I would say hold off on the doom and gloom. If I were you I would wait a little bit longer before I try to bail.
Also Elon's attempts at takeover is far from certain. He does do a lot of talking tbh and personally it doesn't look like he is super serious.

  • Why do you think there are layoffs ? They are not gonna let Elon buy it

    • For reals tho prepping for LC doesn’t hurt especially if you are on visa

If you think no one would buy Twitter the. You are definitely not considering many factors. Jack has not only left CEO position but is also leaving the board of directors soon in May. After Jack leaves, Elon will be the individual with the biggest share of 9% and Vanguard holds 10%. So Twitter will definitely face a disruption in terms of ownership. In terms of employment and layoffs, no one can say.

Wait it out if you’re enjoying it for the following reasons 1. You don’t know what’s going to happen 2. If there is an acquisition you’ll make money on your equity 3. If you did get laid off you’d probably get a good severance package and you could LC then

Chill out. The future of this buyout is not certain. Therefore, at this point, you should not feel certain that you need to start interview prep.
