I’m considering moving to Boston to work at a FAANG company. I just spent 6 months in the Bay Area and the dating scene for straight men sucks here. How does it look in Boston?

My info:
- Late 20s
- Straight
- 6.2 tall
- White
- Educated (2xBSc & MSc in STEM)
- Ambitious and well read
- Was told to be good looking (by girls)
- My game is a bit rusty
- European with US citizenship

Looking for:
- Tall, fit, and educated women

Do women there mostly look to hookup or are interested in longer relationships?

Seemed good , but I am a woman and I saw lots of cute guys out there when I went for a conference. In general i feel though that change of place and pace is always good. By the way did you try bumble op?

I’ve lived in Boston and NYC - New York is so, so much better. Boston is very small (you’ll know pretty much all the spots in 3-6 months), everything closes early, and people feel weirdly distant / closed off to making friends. Winters SUCK. New York is huge, people are open and friendly, diversity is crazy, tons to do and see even years after living here, winters are far better, lots more opportunity. Definitely an intense city compared to Boston, but don’t judge a book by its cover - spend a week here and hang out.

I grew up south of Boston and I really can't stand this cocky mentality that people in Boston think that the world runs around them. Unless you go to the higher ed, need very specific Medical Care or work in some nonprofits what are you doing there? Don't get me wrong but since got a nice bar scene and a great Sports scene. But at the end of the day this all gets old by the time you're 30.

I live in work in Western Mass. Dating was a bit if he I'll give it that but I do have a girlfriend. My rents are much less, I have more access to things that would cost me three times the price in Boston, I can take a train to New York City or bus relatively cheap, I still have access to bars and restaurants and museums.

The other part about Boston is to be frank is a lot of the people work in Boston but they live in the 128 belt period houses in that belt can easily go for $750,000. There's no way that your average college grad is going to be able to afford a house for that which is why they moved further and further Route 495 belt and increasingly Worcester.

Another thing to remember is when you're in your early 30s you pretty much can date up and down so from the twenties up to maybe a cougar in her 40s isn't that implausible. I just recommend going on Tinder and being honest. If you're looking to get laid say it if you're looking for a relationship say it.

  • If you have this profile and can't get laid, that's a problem
