MBA target/non-target school

Nov 30, 2020 6 Comments

I will be graduating in the fall with my bachelors in finance, now looking into different schools for my MBA and the value that the “school name” adds to my resume. Also, I am planning on completing my MBA 100% online. Any suggestions? Is an MBA worth it? Does the school name actually make a difference from a recruiter perspective? #interview #finance #MBA#mbacompensation

Don’t do MBA if not from T15 schools. Don’t waste your money.

    • If you’re a good candidate you can also get a lot of scholarship money from a non top 15..... I opted to go to top 25 cause I got a full ride and living stipend. Definitely recommend networking hard at those top 25 schools.

Also. Don’t go right out of undergrad. You’ll be out of your league and the experience won’t get you anything.

Are you planning to go right now or after a couple years of work experience?

Only worth it if it's the latter, top 20 or so MBA and if you want to change careers

T15 and prefer some evening or weekend at least. Online has very limited value for MBA from my experience

  • I agree with Amazon. I'd even say top 10 is what you want. Don't waste your time and money on anything else if you already have business undegrad

  • Check out mba rankings for online programs, find alumni through LinkedIn and reach out to them about their experiences, find out where people from the program are most likely to end up by their employment statistics, start studying for the gmat, find out what routes you'd like to take, and how each school can get you there, etc..
