It has been a year I am working as a contractor software engineer. My contract type is Contract to Hire. How long does it usually take to get converted to full time? Do we get the stocks while getting converted? What are the possible negotiations I can do and what are the benefits and downsides in this path of conversion ? And whom should I ask about the conversion status, my employer(mondo) or my manager at Apple? Help me understand my situation and my future regarding conversion. Thanks
Apple doesn’t care about you if you’re a contractor. They see it as an opportunity for discounted labor that is disposable at any time. Once a contractor it’s hard to get out of that unless you’re willing to spend several years as a 3nd class employees. Move on and apply elsewhere instead of living with false hope.
Contract to hire doesn’t mean anything. 99% of the time a company will not convert a contractor to FTE. Your best bet is to find a new FTE job, which should be easier if you have Apple on your resume now. If anything then you can bounce back to Apple as a FTE, but I would not count on being converted. Source: I used to work contract jobs.
You got unlucky, or maybe just weren’t that good. I’ve been converted before and seen plenty of other contractors get converted
Probably different in software, in mechanical engineering the conversion is nonexistent
Hey! Could you share how one can apply for a CW role at Apple?

Have you not already asked your manager?
Not yet. Trying to get some ideas before I do that.
It’s been a year and you NEVER talked to your manager about this? Genius
