TC $125K
2 years at Amazon
10 years general IT experience no degree.
I spent the last 2 years at Amazon as an L4 Support Engineer. I must say I enjoyed it for the most part. I learned a lot in the first year, then after that things got super boring as I worked twords my L5. I enjoyed most of the people I worked with, but I felt very demotivated after I received my forte and got a "meets expectations" and a 1.2% pay Increase. My L5 promo always had some reason why we needed to wait until next quarter. I could feel my attitude starting to turn. So I started applying and after several interviews I landed a position with a base pay of $160k. I did not feel valued or find much meaning in the work I was doing... For the most part I was able to work 40 hours a week and keep a good work life balance. I do wonder if I would have put in more then 40 hours a week if I would have received my promo sooner.
For the most part I enjoyed my time with Amazon, but I am also excited for new opertunities. Thanks for letting me share my experience with all of you :)
