Just passed Hiring Committee! The recruiter said that she doesn't have the Offer details yet, but will have it at the start of the week. She asked that I think about and prepare my compensation requirements - and that I can either let her know my compensation expectations right away or wait to hear their offer. Can any CE who is familiar with the L4 pay band advise me on how to best negotiate and what numbers to target? Appreciate the help!
Where are you based? US? TC of $210-235k. Bonus will be 42.85% OTE
Congrats! I have my onsite coming up. Any suggestions?
Yes, your recruiter should have provided you with some prep info. Follow the guide/framework for the General Cognitive Ability portion to answer your questions. Do you know what specific CE level and specialization?
Thanks! No, recruiter has not told me what level I am being considered for.
Op, do you recommend to practice case study based questions for GCa? Like victor cheng or any other available in the market. Does it help?
What did you end up being offered or negotiating? Sharing it here will help others going for similar roles
They offered 120k (70/30 split), 200k GSU, and 30k signing bonus. The first offer they gave was 20% lower total. I negotiated once by stating what I was expecting/hoping for. Although they didn't meet my ask, they increased quite a bit and I'm happy!
Wouldn’t that make it lower than 195k... maybe after the first year signing bonus? 120k + 50k gsu per year for year 2 3 4 Kinda low? Or is there some intrinsic value I’m missing ?
have you confirmed that with your recruiter that it’s not 120*0.7 being guaranteed and 120*0.3 being variable ? Do you also get the yearly bonus, or is that sales bonus THE bonus? Because I believe everyone gets bonus at google, not just Sales roles.
Accidentally didn’t reply but created a new response. See below
Customer engineers are paid like this: Base RSU Sales bonus - 42.68% of base @ 100% attainment but multipliers and no cap for going over so this can be large. Most CEs are grouped in pods/pools so one account can’t make or break you. Everyone works towards a goal. Then there are refreshers yearly based on performance.
What do refreshers look like and do they take factor in your initial stock grant?
Depends on performance. $30-90k depending on level, perf etc. No they are independent, new vest schedule over 4 years. They don’t start until you’ve been onboard 1 full calendar year.
OP, how long did it take you to hear from your recruiter after your onsite? And do they usually call or send an email?
Hello there have you got answer to this ? Or experience it ?
How long you had to wait after onsite to hear about next steps? Have they called you or email ?
I just had my interview for ce at gcp. Last time I interviewed with them they got back within 2 days with an offer. Couldn’t take it then but I will this time sine the job is now local
How was the GCA and Leadership/Googlyness? Any recommendations or expectations? I have mine coming up shortly.
L5 total TC of 185k in amazon seems very low. Why is that?
Checked, it's actually 195k
Probably because it’s SA, not SWE.
