In engineering and leadership, how do these align?
Meaning both technical and manager roles seem to have a prefix with one of those four. Wondering about rough ranges and how difficult it is to progress.
This is an oversimplification, but staff = manager (mid level, manages ICs), sr staff = sr manager(manages managers or specialized technical resources), principal is a large title that equates to director (manages directors) and senior director (manages large headcount groups of directors) depending on the role.
Thanks for the comments! How about rough fair salary ranges?
It seems a lot of the decision is contextual based and location/market plays a huge factor.

110K base decent for LPB? How much different is SPB?
110 is at the higher end of LPB. SPB can go as high as 180 but that is after years of SPB roles.
Which location?
Thanks! I truly appreciate the comments.
Staff, SR staff and Principal and IC tracks. Software Manager, SR Manager, are people manager tracks although managers are expected to code.
Thanks Kitty! If I am at 110K in LPB and get a SPB position, what do you think it should be at least?
