If you're not a fucking idiot, then you don't give a fuck about conspicuous consumption and what other people think about your mode of transportation, and will go for whatever the best price / performance / utility / safety ratio is, and use the rest of your money more wisely to improve your life longer term.
If you are a fucking idiot, sky's the limit. Spend as much as you like on a rapidly depreciating asset where all the key differentiators at different price points are ego based rationalisations and lies.
Other people will call you stupid for treating car as a luxary, but if that’s important to you (as traveling, going out for food, dressing nicely is for some) then I would count any additional payment outside of the 20/4/10 (aka anything outside payment of 10% of your monthly take-home) as your luxary spending category, and limit spending on other things like travelling.
This way you keep it realistic but still allow yourself to spend a bit more on your car if you decide its important to you
