I've been having ideas and have plenty of people interested with the projects I propose. I've started to look at introducing myself to VCs or some startup firm but they all recommend personal introductions.
My network is pretty bad because I'm generally not that social at work. I have some people in my circles but have always felt people are nice to me only to extract some value. Nothing is ever genuine.
Besides that, where should I go to pitch my idea and get some seed capital?

Knowledge is cheap these days (with all these online courses/ classes etc) and everyone comes up with amazing ideas everyday. But the ones that put in effort on even the most average of ideas are the ones that can truly make it happen.
I support you my friend. Tunnel vision into it, what have you got to lose anyways. Give it your best and if it doesn’t succeed then you have only learned 10X the things you would if you stayed at any job.
Basically it's a one way street, "extract some value" is more generic way of saying I'll be friendly but they really are friendly to me because they want help.
