It’s not just about in network vs out of network right ? It’s also much more freedom to get the providers and care you want/need from the in network group?

    • It’s just a matter of whether you prefer to pay less in premiums or deal with some coverage hoops

  • EPO this year. Back to PPO next year. Planned medical expenses that the EPO saved me a large amount on.

      thanks

With EPO you can’t just walk into a specialist office or a hospital without asking them first?

    • On my plan there is no PRimary care referral needed. If there was I would totally have paid more and stayed on the PPO.

Referral for specialist if it’s something I know I need (or need consistently) is bullshit. A referral for a new diagnosis or similar would be the same on either plan type for me.

Hospital walk in works the same in either case. If it is an emergency go to the hospital, do not call your PCP first.
