Hello! Just completed an initial screening, and the HR mentioned that the next round will be a HireVue screening. Looks like a system where you're basically interacting with a program which will video record your answers. From what I understand, these are mostly STAR/ CAT type questions. You get a minute to prepare your answer and start recording. You can also playback the recording and have another go, if you're not satisfied with your answer. Anyone been through this before? Any tips on what else to expect will be very helpful. Thanks! #interview #auto #
I got 3 minutes to prepare for each question and 3 minutes to respond
Thanks. So, basically STAR / CAR type questions, and no technical stuff?
Yes only STAR questions based on prior work ex
If you keep replaying the first video then you get infinite amount of time to prepare for second video of the same question. The timer keeps resetting since its thinking you are just watching the video.
Smart move
The kind of advice i come to blind for
The questions are all on Glassdoor. Tell me a time you work with a team, tell me a time you achieve your goals, etc. make sure you respond in STAR format. There are 5 questions.
What a dystopia lmao they can't even ask STAR questions in person Holy shit. So glad I fled the auto industry
You fled the auto industry to go into Stellantis? 😅
For me these were basic competency / screening questions that a hiring manager would ask. If you did well they just moved you to the full interview.
I wouldn’t want to work for a company that can’t take the time to interview someone. I’d go find a better opportunity and would be very clear with GM that their HireVue interview is the reason I chose another job
Exactly. Got offered to interview for a bus dev position then ghosted them when they sent me hirevue
This is an initial interview. They will ask you more STAR questions in person when you advance more into other rounds.
Yes. I remember in my final 3 HOUR interview I was forced to answers all in STAR. There is was one question where I got excited and veered off course, was scolded and reminded to answer in STAR. It got very repetitive, even though the questions were unique.
I have done this thing for Adidas hiring process and passed it. Yes, do use the trick of infinite time availability to watch your own first take video before a second take if needed. But my suggestion would be to try and finish the entire interview within a target timeframe, say 30-35 minutes. I am damn sure they also note the time stamps when you record your answers. Since its a recorded video, I had to practice hand gestures, fake smiles etc etc, just like any video interview but it felt weird talking into a camera and not getting any response. That needs mental preparation.
I did it too. But never got anything behavioral. I had to answer technical questions. Another time I had to just type in answers based on technical questions.
You don't get more than two chances so if you think your first take is good, then save it. I have seen my friend screw up the second time. The questions are typical behavioral questions you get for any interviews. You might also get questions from the job description/requirement
