If I can't get into Meta or Google, would it be worth a few months or years at Amazon for the name recognition?

Not sure I'll make it through the Google and Meta interviews. I've only done 25 LC problems. I got my job at Qualcomm because I was on point with communication the day of my interview and was able to think through all the problems and get solutions even though I'd never leetcoded. I didn't have any crazy graph traversal questions or anything that requires all this additional study.

Now I want higher TC and a change of role. Is Amazon worth a try?

Forgot the blind tax, sorry!

When I joined, manager told me to look around and see who's the worst performer on the team and try to not be that person. I have multiple offers to leave now:)

I didnโ€™t know I was doing well (better than others). Sure I had more commits and better stats, but amazons culture is to always treat you like you can improve and point out mistakes. Thatโ€™s part of it

It was actually more like my first year was out of fear and my second year was because I was chasing promo carrot sticks. Eventually I did get promo, but I worked way too much to get it

Sorry, what do you mean by entitled? I wasn't suggesting Amazon should just give me a job based on nothing. I was just asking if it's even worth considering putting the effort in for or if I should just focus on other companies. There's just a lot of negativity aimed at Amazon on Blind and it's hard to get a fair picture.

What do you mean by put โ€œeffortโ€ into specific companies? That makes no sense. What makes you think you will even get an offer at Amazon? The interview process is not too different from Meta or other big companies. I got offers from all 3 btw.

Amazon PIPs 6% a year. The reason Amazon is hiring so many people is that they have more employees than the others and are growing at a very fast annual rate so need people to support growth.

No ... itโ€™s not really true either... Amazon is desperate... they are hiring SDE1s with 20 min phone screen after they completed OA... and guess what question they are asking in the 20 min phone screen.

Also, I know interviewers are being asked to not to put much pressure on SDE1s for any kind of random reasoning

Thanks! Google was a pain to deal with: down levelled until I did extra interviews, hard to find remote teams and then lowballed. They would only match Meta with written proof (only had a verbal offer from Meta). In contrast everyone at Meta were super easy to deal with and they made a very generous offer without any drama.

Ah ok got it. Google also down leveled me but ended up matching my Meta offer. Still ended up taking Meta because didnโ€™t want the downlevel to set my career back and it finally came 1 month after I had already accepted Meta.

Joining in one month, see you there!
