anyone making money on the side?

Thinking of starting an ML consulting gig on the side. I want around 100-150k extra income. I guess i could easily make that when I switched jobs and an in the market, but it seems too stressful to have all your income coming from one source, ie, your day job.
I feel a consulting side gig will offer more Independence and i can also write off electricity, internet, cell phone and a bunch of crap to the business, and use that opportunity to explore areas of knowledge my day job doesn't give me the flexibility to.

Anyone done this? I need a mentor. Making in the late 300s now.

  • Why do you need extra income and that too in a specific range 100-150k ?

That's the approx. I just want to be more independent in general. Had a couple of really shitty experiences this year and realized my professional track record is solely dependent on my job and my financial health is purely dependent on that my manager thinks of me. I know this is how it is everywhere but if I was independent I'll make decisions more true to my heart. And won't be bothered by mostly transient and extraneous situations at work and bad phone screens.

    • It usually takes time to reach 100k+ on the side unless you already have a good network that would lend you a side gig/consultant kinda job. Freelancing is one way to do it but the market is already crowded with freelancers which makes it difficult.

What worked for me is to help my friends bootstrap their startups. I make around ~7k extra per month. I'm going to take a break from it now because i hardly get any time on the weekends.
