At least it was instant! I had a friend refer me to Square (twice for the same role) and I only got the rejection a bit after the second time which was like 3 weeks total.
Referrals or they just may not prioritize Amazon to hire from. I know Google loves hiring from Amazon so they will respond to applications quickly. Maybe Lyft doesn’t so you might have better luck moving to another company first then down the road move to Lyft.
Be contactable on LinkedIn (make your email address available to recruiters) if you aren't already. Search through your email to see if any recruiters from these companies have ever contacted you. If so, just reach out there and boom you've got the ball rolling. Idk how it is for Amazon engineers but I get hit up almost every single day by random recruiters and I'm not even a standout engineer or anything like that. I'm starting at Netflix next year.
