Folks here make 500k living in 2m house that’s built after ww2. Actual QoL is so much lower than other parts of US where people live in new houses with big yards even though bay area people are richer…

Please leave. Us native Bay Area folks are tired of the whining.

Edit: us not is. I am not Native American. But my point is why is OP living somewhere while complaining about it? Just move dude you make $500k. Boo hoo you now make $425k in Texas.

Some people who grew up in Austin aren't thrilled by the influx...I'm now priced out of the place I grew up and my friends have had to relocate. My older relatives are baffled and don't feel comfortable in the city anymore. :/

Many people live here because their job requires them to be here. Given the choice to do the same role from elsewhere, they would move away.

Thats why they pay a premium. They wouldnt pay u 500k if the average house was worth 300k

This isn’t true. They pay $500k because their competitors are paying $500k, not because of housing prices. There are many ways to make the same income outside of the Bay Area.

There are people making 500k living in MCOL cities. It’s not like you have to go to the bay to have that kind of income. I honestly wonder why people here die so hard for the Bay Area

Love the bay, with all it’s qualms. You can go to some remote big ass house and still miss the great food we have.

  • Bay Area is shit, you can’t Uber, takes 30min to move a block, every home is crap because for a 10k bathroom remodel it will cost 200k to bring everything up to code which is required, that’s why no one will pay to update any home. Crime is out of control, people that say they love are in fantasy land acting like everything is still great while the homeless are shitting on their doorstep

Edit: I left right before pandemic, moved to Texas

‘Native Bay Area folks’ moronic no growth housing policies are the reason this is so shitty. Y’all could’ve avoided all this 20 years ago - a bit too late to be whining about the newcomers

The definition of native: a person born in a specified place or associated with a place by birth, whether subsequently resident there or not.

Nobody should live on the street. Immigrants should not live on the streets either, but the difference is that an immigrant chooses where they live and a native person doesn't. An immigrant or transplant chooses to move to a place even though their community is not there. While a native doesn't choose and they can't just move their entire family, friends and network.
