im thinking about leaching the gaming scene. Game design pays poorly, and im tired of making so little that i need a roommate. or that is something like my car dying happened tomorrow I’d be screwed. What types off roles have game Designers successfully transitioned to? was it a god move for you?
Lateral move would be casino gaming, no crunch, no ageism, better pay.
ONLY if you are a systems designer. Casino designers require a ton of l337 math skills. But that industry isn't stable either. It's shrinking y-on-y.
I’d imagine a game designer would be able to pretty easily transition to product management.
at niantic, game designers are on the product management team and get paid v well
Could try non entertainment games, if you'd be into it. Pays better and less crunch culture depending.

Heard congress distributing wealth
Game designers just get payed beans at Blizzard, that’s the problem. Which is ironic because great gameplay by great design talent is what built the company.
