Do employees at places like nintendo get special benefits? I've heard that blizzard employees get blizzbucks but are there any special gaming company specific benefits that you enjoy? How much do you actually end up using these benefits?
They get benefits like working long hours with underwhelming pay. I know a dev that got a job offer at Blizzard. They were trying to convince him that hourly pay was better than salary because of all the overtime he would be doing. Which makes no sense, especially in California. Not sure if blizzbucks would be given out at 1 1/2 times during OT.
So that is actually accurate in that salary pay is so low given per hour worked wage that it's often better to be hourly at blizzard. Cause you can claim OT and that usually gives you a big boost in earnings given amount of hours worked
Do you at least get rich if the game takes off? Like everyone who worked on WoW in early 2000s? E.g. paid in lots of equity?
At MSFT we get a discount on xbox live and a game pass for 3 months...lol. People in xbox/store org actually get xboxes with dev accounts with every game enabled, though.
Ur kidding? That’s fucking awesome.
You can re-up the game pass through the company store at a deep discount. Controllers are real cheap too, console discounts are only mediocre.
Blizzard bucks are given once a year. There shitty honestly cause u can’t spend it on clothing so you can really only use it to buy MTX in our games or buy our games for a gift.
A lot of people spend it on Blizzcon tickets and then sell it to cash out.
Yeah thats another use, I didn’t have any friends that wanted tickets so eh
How much discount on Sony mx 1000 m3 Bluetooth headsets?
Ahh not much better then the deals that show up on slickdeals.net, that’s poopy
At EA, we get 5 free EA games per year and $100 towards EA digital products or in-game purchases per year. After that, EA games are $20 each. When you join you get $100 off a new console.
I have 5 friends in the game industry, and... no benefits can save those salaries and wlb.
