I interviewed at GM for a mobile developer(iOS) position. As part of the first round of the interview process I was expected to complete a GitHub coding challenge ,an online GM Assessment, and a HireVue OnDemand (HVOD) video interview. I completed all this and updated recruiter. It has been almost a month since then and I havenāt received any response. I contacted recruiter once 2 weeks back and he said he has not received any update from the team. Should I contact him one more time or should I assume they are not moving ahead with my profile. I almost spent the whole weekend completing these assessments. I think I atleast deserve a feedback. TC : 110K
Donāt work at GM haha
What makes you say that?
Itās not really the best place to grow from my experience. Which location would it be ?
I actually like the BofA app so regardless of how the interview goes good job op
Thanku. That thing on my resume helps me to land interview calls sometime.
This is par for the course for GM from what I've seen. Honestly it's an amazing company to work for but I also work in hardware side as a true car guy. I might see things a little different.
GM IT is a real shit show. You should look elsewhere. There is no room for growth and your technical skills will stagnate.
This would definitely make me do some more research before making any decision.
Just curious what kind of level are they offering you i.e 7B, 7A, 8 etc. ?
I havenāt received the offer yet but any idea about TC for 5.5 years of experience and Austin location.
Probably 90 to 100k . Try to get level 7 that would be around 110-120k in the lower band
Man I already make more than thatš¤£
Sounds like doof_s was let go from GM and is sour grapes . 110-120 is not even remotely in the lower level 7, more like the very very top.
I believe the recruiter may have asked you already what is the salary expectation, what did you tell them?

In the past year, GM has eliminated whole floors of people from the Atlanta IT team. If youāre doing IOS development at Austin IT, I think a lot of the āgood onesā from Atlanta took the transfer. I wouldnāt be surprised if the role has already been filled by an internal or if the position has been eliminated and some poor soul is now doing the job of two people. I only know this because the people Iāve worked with at the Phoenix, Austin, and Atlanta innovation centers are all told āinformallyā that they shoulda start looking elsewhere, just in case. Itās kind of a bloodbath at GM right now.
Man this sounds scary. Thanks for shedding some light on this situation. And yes its been more than a month for the interview process. Now I am anticipating something similar to what you mentioned might have happened.
Do you still work for GM?
Probably did you a favor. Go to an actual tech company.
It's hard to get into FANG if you work for a low tier company.
Tons of real tech companies that aren't fang
