I am working at my current company from last 8 months which I joined as a new grad fresh out of college(Tier 1 if that matters). I like the work that I am doing and I really like the team in which I am working currently. My current TC is 32L and I am genuinely confused what should I do going ahead. I have made the following list of possible options. I 1. Stay in the company for one more year and then apply for SDE 2 roles in Google/Uber/Rippling/Rubrik/Coinbase type companies in India. Given the current hot dynamics of the market and provided that I will be getting a hike on my current TC soon this seems to be a good option money and career growth wise. 2. Apply to Google/Uber/Rubrik in India for SDE 1 roles. I have been reached out by Google and Uber recruiter recently and they are willing to schedule my interviews for SDE 1 roles in India. I researched a bit and I realised that the hike I will be getting through this option won't be that big and I will have to make my way up from scratch for that SDE 2 promotion. Another thing though has to be considered here is if I move to Google I might get a chance to move to the US in next 2 years after L4 promo. 3. Apply to companies in EU/Singapore which hire directly from India for SDE 1 roles. I have seen companies like Google London, Meta London,Databricks Amsterdam , Deliveryhero Berlin and Booking Amsterdam hiring directly from India. I have seen on blind people telling that EU isn't worth moving from financial perspective. But I feel like I am just 23 years old and it will be good to explore EU along with work. Moreover I have heard FB allows easy relocation from London to Menlo Park. 4. Apply to HFTs like Graviton,Quadeye,Alphagrep . I have been reached out by some of the recruiters and they are actively hiring for quant researcher and low latency software developer roles. I am concerned about the bad work life balance and high performance toxic environment in HFTs . Though their pay is more than double of my current TC still I am confused if I should switch or not. Moreover I have few concerns regarding the switch from HFT to a big tech company if i spend a couple of years there. 5. Apply for masters in the US . At some point I want to work outside India for some time for that extra money and better lifestyle . But with the recent rise in salaries and people making 60-70 TC at 2 yoe becoming common I am not sure if this is the right move. I have a decent GPA and college and a good GRE score(between 328-332). Though I have some concerns in moving to the US as my parents are getting old, My dad will be 60 this year and I can already see him struggling with his health problems. I come from a nuclear and a middle class family and I feel that if I go to the US then I wont be able to provide physical and mental support to my ageing parents. They have done a lot for me and literally sacrificed everything they had just for my education. I have the same concern if i move to EU but I feel from EU/Singapore I will be able to travel more frequently. I request the blind family to kindly choose which option will be the best for me , please let me know if you have any comments and feedback for me , happy to listen from your experiences. #tech #google #uber #coinbase #rubrik #hft
There is high probability that you’ll get downleveled to L3 with <2.5 yoe.
If your current tc is 32 lpa at Nutanix given you are mts -1, it is already high, i have few mts-1 in my team all have around 25 lpa only
Did you do intern at Nutanix? If yes, for how long?
No I didnt, it was an off campus offer, I had a competing offer from a bank with similar TC and also Microsoft which bumped my Nutanix offer a bit.
Wow ! How good is your profile that Recruiters from those companies are reaching out ? Or is it just because of brand name of Nutanix ?
For HFTs i think they reach out to Tier 1 folks from CS background regularly. Google has been on a hiring spree recently and almost all of my friends have been reached out in last month or so,
Explore, figure out who you are, your like/dislikes. You cant make this decision by making a poll on blind. I have been in this industry since last 9 years. I have seen people moving to different countries, coming back. It will differ from person to person. At this moment, your world view will be very limited. Dont chase money and hikes. You will earn way more than you need in next 15 years. Go out and explore.
Thank you sir/mam for the advice! . I will try to explore .
Your asking the correct questions on the wrong platform. Blind ideology is skewed, most people here focus on TC. Nothing bad in that, it's just capitalism. But there's definately more to life/career than TC. Being from tier 1 college you get a vast network of tier 1 alumni. Connect with them on LinkedIn and ask these questions. That's probably the best use of tier 1 colleges. Good luck.
Thanks for your advice. This seems to be a really good idea, will definitely give it a shot
Take a deep breath and relax.
I need to i guess 😅, will try, thank you!
Your phrasing of this problem is slightly wrong, I mean in your perspective you'll regret not taking some other option when you are going through the down phase of of the option you e chosen. My first priority would be to work 5-7 years with a good ambitious manager in a good company. If Nutanix does give you that, you don't really have to go change as long as they are giving you a YoY growth. And instead of LC or other prep, take a vacation to Europe or even US or maybe SE Asia and go meet other people, see if that changes your wants and desires. And most importantly spend time with your family, if your dad's getting older, go travel around while he still can and cherish those memories. My 2 cents is don't go chasing abroad for the sake of it, some of it can be quenched by a month long vacation a year. Not the other way around.
Thank you for your advice!
Hey can I dm you?
Sure man!
Meta London doesn't have headcount, they'll shift you to Canada
Oh ! Does Meta hire directly for Singapore/Dublin from India?
