What is the risk? 18 month non-compete sounds good. Could I get in Citadel or other bad culture funds and intentionally perform at bottom 10% just to get fired. I can take vacation travel around the world then back to Google? I have high performance record. TC 330
18 months is the maximum. If you get fired very quickly they will probably decide you don’t know much and only enforce a few months.
This is hilarious. Go for it and keep us updated! 😂
How about work hard in 6 months to learn as much as I can, then leave. So they will put at least 12 month non-compete? I also heard that sign in bonus is generous. Not a bad deal.
Sign in bonus has to be paid back before one year - overall plan seems pretty risky lol
Prorated?
You know they don’t continue to compensate you during non compete period, right?
OP probably wanted to take time off with an excuse. Otherwise, that gap on your resume will seem daunting.
Yeah that is the plan, also want some income during vacation to pay mortgage without using my savings and stocks.
Really? I never stay in non-compete so I don't know details about how they work. Isn't that they pay base salary during non-compete period?
Yes only base salary and you can probably still go work for Google . They also might not enforce it or drop it within month. It is a great option only if you'd been at the company for some time as your compensation grows faster than at a tech company.
