Getting a Product Management job in Google

Hi all, For the past 1 year I have consistently applied for PM job in Google but never get any feedback. I started my career as PM in a telco operator company then moved to PM/BD for entertainment company. Now I am in Huawei as Project Management but most my job revolve around Product & BD, (Asia countries). I hope to work back as Product Management. Is it possible because of various area I involved in previously that Google did not consider my application?

A referral at Google works wonders. I’d try that. The PM roles at Google are pretty competitive so make sure you prepare if you get the opportunity.

I heard about this. I also saw an advertisement about 'Product School'. It seems the lecture are done by top tech PM and once completed the course they might able to be a referrer

I’m one of those “top PMs” who fell for teaching at the Product School in the beginning but after having taught a few different seminars for them, I do not recommend you do interview prep based on their presentations because there is little structure and specificity in most of their content. Save your money and instead go to open houses and events organized by one of the FAANG companies.

Am curious, why not apply for tencent or alibaba instead? Heard they pay insane bonuses when a product works out well. Heard through the vines that tencent apparently paid a product team 88 months of regular pay as a one time bonus when their product outperformed. 88 is a lucky number in China, but that's fucking 7 years of pay. That's basically hitting start up jackpot pay levels at a stable mature company. With your experience at huawei, stick with Asia markets. Growth is a lot higher there. Join tencent and launch a product in South East Asia, especially if you get onto their gaming division, ride the wave, and then get a 88 month paid bonus and retire.

Firstly I don't speak Chinese. It seems they prefer Chinese speaking person. Plus I rarely see ladies as PM in Chinese companies. You are right, it seems SEA Market are booming but I kind of try to chase my dream to work in Google

@SMallpenis don’t think you are counting right. There’s 52 weeks in a year. That’s a test and a half of salary which is some nice money but ain’t no retirement level shit (and don’t forget taxes yo)
