I think this is completely ridiculous question to ask in any interview. I had done it before maybe like 2-3 weeks back, but it is really hard to recall the solution unless you practiced it just before the interview. What the fuck Microsoft??!!! This was for the Azure SDN Networking team. #Microsoft #onsite
it's a luck game. You know that. Many stupid engs ask LC hard to feel better about themselves. I think they are normally losers
What was your YOE/qualifications ? Maybe you look senior on paper, and got an appropriate question
questions should based on the position he is applying for, not based on his background.
Eh, if you say you’ve worked in spatial data for years but can’t do an index on that data, I’ll question the authenticity of the things on the CV that got him to the interview
Yeah I agree those questions don't assess anything. Nobody is expected to know the perfect solution for that, unless for very specific role. As an interviewer, you are asked to evaluate coding and data structures, and this is what you ask?!.....
Chill dude. I was asked this one in a phone screen for Google fresh grad role
Am I misunderstanding this problem somehow? It doesn’t seem like a crazy programming question at all, like LeetCode medium to easy. I haven’t tried solving it though so maybe I’m missing something...

Depends on the role and level. It’s too much for a generalist position I agree
This was for Software Engineer 2
