Getting in to Microsoft !

How difficult is it to get a job in Microsoft as a S/W Engineer with 10 + YOE in Software Test automation framework development ? What worries me the most is that I might not have 'relevant' experience, I wish it were as straightforward as cracking all problems on LC. Anyone help pls #microsoft

If you think cracking all LC problems is straightforward, crack G interviews.

And get L3 offer .. :P

I probably didnt convey my message clearly, what I meant by "cracking all LC problems" is that at least in that case, my goals are clearly defined. What I can't really aim for, are the skills ( like developing a distributed web application ) that I didnt learn as part of my job, nor can I learn them to the fullest even if I were to try and learn. Being a Comp Sc. grad, I believe DS, Algorithms and OOP design are some aspects that I feel comfortable with and something I can get good at given I spent say 6 months.

Microsoft is Easy

Actifio mRLU67 OP Jan 25, 2020

Thanks, why do you think its easy ? I mean if its about mastering datastructures, algorithms and design skills, thats something I could get better at over a period of time. But, I can't specifically target my learning at certain skill set ( like AI or ML ) to get a job at MS. Are you saying interviews at MS are very generic?

I think the hard part is just getting an interview. How are your interviewing skills? If they are good, then you should not have any problems getting a job in Microsoft. Your work experience sounds fine to me.

Thanks ! - I do get emails from Google's recruiters once a month for an opening for a profile I may not be a good match for. Even if I were to apply, what are the odds that the interview would be generic, i.e., testing my algorithmic, OOP design and problem solving skills compared to interview being specific, for eg. exploring skills in Hadoop or building a distributed web application? I consider my interview skills to be OK, assuming you are referring to answering well ( to the point ) during the interview ( I mean nothing technical ) ?

Interviews nowadays are getting quite standardized. You will get 1-3 rounds of leetcode stuff, then perhaps 1 round of system design, and 1 round talking about your work experience. Best to get mock interviews before you attempt the real thing. Another way (not recommended) is to go for real life interviews with companies that you have no intention of joining.
