TESLA UP 14% AFTER HOURS 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm a self taught web dev/ bootcamp grad YoE 1.5 TC: laid off I'm on the LC grind -- I believe I am a strong candidate to pass a behavioral interview, but will I even get passed the screens#
Yes, I just met 2 new hires in my class who didn't go to college.
Oh sweet! How many YoE or special projects? I used to mod startcraft maps as a kid so that's where my programming experience comes from before high School classes, had to drop out of college because of a kid but I am making the best of it
One guy had 4 yrs exp and the other had 8
Yes, you can get in without a degree if you have experience. "Self taught web Dev / bootcamp grad" alone doesn't tell us much. What's your professional experience? Any open source projects?
I was basically a consultant for the B2B side of the company, which I am in talks now of being picked back up by them. I am a vet, 25 father of 2, troubled past but have since gotten help and am flourishing in life now. Google is my 5 year goal. For now I am just trying to better myself and my children until then.
Keep up with your ambition and don't worry about the naysayers, good luck. Keep the kids proud !
LC and your good
Thank you ♥️
Find a referral. When you're ready you'll need that to get past the automatic screening.
Watch Youtube videos by Clement Mihailescu, Ex Google Techlead and Back to Back SWE. You will get the best advice about how to prepare for the coding interview, actual engineers salaries, coding problems etc.
Set higher goals than Google
I'm a bootcamp grad who got into Google with about 1 YOE (also self taught, never took a CS course). Keep grinding that LC! Getting that initial interview might be difficult. You'll likely need a referral.
How many LC did you do? Thanks for the Hope! BTW is there any opportunities on the East Coast besides NYC?
I did well over 1000 hours over the course of a few years (hard to say exact number of problems because I skipped between platforms). Maybe overkill, but I enjoyed it and was working only part time for a bit.
You’re trying to go from tier-846393 to tier-1. Slightly unrealistic. I think it would be helpful if you aimed a bit lower and worked your way up. Just my opinion.
Hillary had a better chance at being president than him getting a job at Google and look how that turned out for her.
I never thought I'd ever be a real SWE period making 6 figures. If my startup didn't fuck up blowing money I'd still have a job ☹️ one day I wanna be in G no matter how much work it takes. But yeah I'm planning to get 2 more YoE at least . Lol
