What was your trajectory like? How did you end up working on autonomous vehicles? Would you recommend getting into it?
Worth getting into to leverage the experience and get out on better terms
The AV bubble is bursting already
The winter is coming
Can’t say if I’d recommend it, because I was determined/love the field even before it became this hot thing lol. Did a bachelor in robotics, published 2 paper (1 less relevant to robotics), did 1 year internship in a new robotics project at a big logistic company, read loads of books and papers in SLAM, then thesis and AV competition with school. C++ is a must have.
You can get away with just Python if you're doing DL work.
True. DL isn’t specifically an AV job tho. Perhaps I interpreted the question a bit narrowly.
As long as you understand there is a bit of inflation in some of these companies due to hype, that it's ultra competitive, and some companies will lose out eventually... Then I'd say go for it! There will be plenty of jobs in the space for many years to come and it's pretty fun and challenging.
AV technology is far more interesting and will be rewarding compared to the boring web/app development work at many companies. Along with SW development skills, need specialist skills in math, engineering, robotics(Leet code isn’t gonna cut it).
Haha I like that you said “leet code isn’t gonna cut it”

I haven’t done shit today!
Try the nanodegree on Udacity for an overview. But you can break in without AV experience if you have strong C++. I don't recommend the industry, in particular if you like launching things, but YMMV.
