Hang out with fellow bootcampers

Focus on relationship building with teams and on interviewing managers/teams. FB can be a great or awful company depending on the team you land on and boot camp gives you more opportunity than most places to impact that yourself From MS were you coming from cloud or packaged software? If the latter, metrics, logging, and everything else ops

So how does team matching works in bootcamps? Can you elaborate on - interviewing managers/teams- part ?

Atlassian Schnorlaxe Jan 11, 2020

I was in boot camp more than 5 years ago so the details have changed, but fundamentally teams put boot camp tasks into the internal bug tracking, and you can indicate a list you are potentially interested in, and hiring managers can get in touch with you. Nothing stops you reaching out to other teams. If there's a plausible match and you want to interview a potential hiring manager, after initial contact just ask if you can put a half hour on their calendar

You have no responsibilities, so use the time to explore all of the goodies your campus offers. Start thinking about what team you want to join. Don't let your mentor push you around. Don't be pressured into joining a team too soon, take your time.

Does bootcamp mentor push to select a team asap?

Facebook tAGO84 Jan 10, 2020

some do. they are trained to avoid people getting stuck in bc for weeks and weeks so they'll try and push you along. managers will want you to join their teams quickly as well. and, people often put unecessary pressure on themselves.

Internally are some teams/groups considered more desirable than others?

unless u have never worked for a company with more than 10 engineers, the answer should be obvious. Yes.
