Lots of interviews but no offers

Oct 26, 2016 150 Comments

10 year Microsoft FTE here. Interviewing with lots of companies. Recruiters piled in after I updated linked in profile. I seem to pass tech screens fine. On site interviews go well (in my eyes) but end up with a reject any way. So far a no from google,!Facebook, uber, tableau and Dropbox. Should I resign myself to being a msft lifer, am I seeing mom penalty in action, go for smaller companies instead?

I wouldn't like to hire someone staying at Microsoft or google for 10 years, that's super bias but that's saying a lot about your attitude towards your career.

Golly, it's just too bad I landed in such a great team here at MS. And here I was thinking I'd hit the jackpot, working on lots of different facets of a service that I use every day, with great people all around me. And now I'm stuck... with a ten minute commute. Oh, the shame of it all.

BRB, crying myself to sleep now.

I'm glad I decided not to go in a software development direction for my career. From the many comments on blind it seems like it totally sux balls.

I consider rejects as HTTP 303, redirect to a better opportunity waiting for you. Try companies that look at and value your experience rather than offering you questions from Cracking the coding interview book. Keep trying as there is some company dying to hire YOU.
