There didn’t seem to be a strict format. As opposed to FB which had much more structure. I don’t think it will help to find example questions because it’s highly dependent on the interviewer.

For example, I had one that asked me to design something similar an e-commerce site, then only wanted to talk about search specific functionality.

Another asked me a more to design a well known product and wanted me to drive it in any direction I wanted to. This gave me a lot of freedom but left a lot of guesswork on giving the signals they were looking for.

    It seemed very interviewer dependent.

Just study as you would other company and be prepared to talk through trade offs on architectural decisions you are making throughout the process.

I just went through an L7 EM interview at Google. The questions in the 2 system design interviews highly depend on the particular domain/product area of the interviewer.

One of mine went all the way down to the read/write bandwidth of disc hard drives; the other was a fairly common web system design. I just went through the materials my recruiter shared, they were helpful and enough.

I just attempted a L5/6 loop and they said leveling depends on performance. But it’s so strange to me there’s even more of an emphasis on system design for L7. How many directors+ are actively involved in designing features? It’s much more about roadmap planning and initiatives
