Curious how it looks and from a prestige POV.

    • This is the point. You become a certified loyal aws customer. That’s it. In Amazon, SDE don’t take these certificates. They may receive training but that’s it. AWS is just one of many cloud companies. What about Azure? Did you get the certificates too? Here is my point that don’t be loyal to one company or technology. You must learn all. If you are a non-SDE, then this is a big achievement for you. You may find an aws customer company that need some help taking care of their aws tech

    12x is basically the whole certificate catalogue, right? That is definitely enough to show you're an expert-level AWS user. The professional level certs are quite difficult to get afaik.

    Does that really matter? If you're a solutions architect or a more senior engineer, it probably is easier to convince people to listen to you for your AWS implementation choices and recommendations. Basically, depending on the target audience, your mileage may vary.

    As a side note: there's a general disdain for certifications or similar formal qualifications in parts of the developer community though (sometimes deserved, given a lot of certifications seem like glorified advertisements).

    It is a strong signal. It shows that you care more about arbitrary (AWS) vendor lock-in rather than spending that time to learn something more fundamental.

    I generally see it as a somewhat bad flag, unless you’re really senior and got your shit together on all other areas. Then I believe you know all AWS products and how to glue them together, a glorified tour across the product catalogue. Doesn’t mean following their recommendations is always the best choice.

      You don’t need certifications for that tho, I’m subscribe to AWS blog and read about all news launches for fun to keep up to date. Takes loving learning random tech tho.
