YOE: 13 TC: 310k I'm a Toronto Dev working at Amazon as an SDE2 moving towards SDE3. My home life has changed somewhat and it's become difficult for me to leave home to go to the office. Amazon has never really successful figured out how to get WFH employees to contribute and not fade into the background. Anyone know what I could expect from GitHub if I jumped ship? Any other remote companies to look into?
I went through the GitHub interview process last year but got rejected at the last stage. They sounded great at the time but maybe stuff has changed after Microsoft took over
I work for GitHub remote and it's lovely. I have some Canadian friends and they seem to enjoy their jobs. Your TC may take a bit of a hit, but it may not. If you're a senior eng with skills GitHub needs, I wouldn't be surprised to see a base of 200 or 250 cad, then some rsus. So apply!
That TC in Toronto? And in Canadian dollar?
Yes and Yes. I joined in Seattle years ago when price was low from a previous high paying job. all my RSUs were granted non Seattle when I was rated TT. I'm at 120 base, the rest is previous RSU and price is converted to Canadian pesos. Next year my comp will be much less.
