Summary: if you didn't understand the post, I can summarize it in two sentences: if I interview for FTE at FAANG for $300k TC, it doesn't go smooth, but when many many headhunters call me to work as a contractor for a FAANG company, it goes super smooth and I often get the job. But in that case I only get $190k TC, so it is like I have to give somebody $110k in order to "make it smooth".
It is quite interesting. When I interview with FAANG companies, all went well, and they are "moving forward with other candidates". The TC would be $300k or $350k.
And then, tons of headhunters call me for contracting. And the TC is like $85 or at most $95 per hour, or at most $190k TC per year, if I don't take any vacation at all and don't care about my mentality.
Then in such case, the whole process goes really smooth. As in SMOOOOOOTH and I get the job.
So between $300k TC and $190k TC, it is like I lose $110k... and it is like, I give out 2 or even 3 BMW X3 to some people for free, and the whole thing would "go smooth".
I wonder who got the cars. The headhunters? The hiring manager? Or each one of them get a car?
TC: $190k

2. Pretty sure you work on different things. Usually less important but more tedious work will be handed to contractors as managers are not responsible for career progression for contractors.
