I've heard that Glassdoor removes negative reviews for company that advertise on the platform. Any truth to this?
Yes
They hide reviews but I believe you can click a link to view them all.
I know yelp does this. I wrote a bad review for my previous apartment and got deleted, and I wrote another one but the very old 5 star review always gets on top.....
I'm told that they will not do that. However there are plenty of ways companies can legitimately get posts taken down. There's a good thread on Quora that explains how.
No, they don't remove posts just for being negative, but they will remove ones that reveal sensitive information. Doesn't have to be accurate information either, for example if someone posts that only 10% of sales reps are making quota, whether or not that's true, Glassdoor will take it down because of the reference to a specific %.
No, that is not true. However, as an employer you can appeal to their review team if you can prove that something is against their rules. They remove: - Racist or discriminative review. Something like - "all managers in the company are Indians making stupid decisions" will be removed - Reviews that contain people names except for public figures (C-suite) - Reviews that contains profanities, threats - Reviews that contain confidential information - source code, customer lists, manufacturing techniques, R&D activities, budgets, detailed financial results and technical know-how. - All reviews should be original – no substantial quoted material from other sources, including (but not limited to) websites, e-mail correspondence, other reviews, etc.
They narrowed it down to: source code, customer lists, manufacturing techniques, R&D activities, budgets, detailed financial results and technical know-how.
We're paid customers, I know that we regularly appeal if we see something like that, but they removed only 2 reviews so far; both contained discrimination based on ethnicity. And they usually let people know that their reviews are about to be removed, so they can rewrite.
And they removes reviews coming in batches both positive and negative, as they consider it a paid activity
Also they remove reviews they believe to be paid by employer to publish..
Are you sure? I've reported obviously fake reviews posted by management but they never get taken down.
It's hard for them to check. Usually they apply this rule to a bunch of positive reviews posted at the very same day.
