Google Austin downtown campus

1. Does google has any commute benefits to use public transportation? Like orca card in Seattle?

2. Also, which neighborhood would be great to rent an apartment in? Looking for something under $1400

3. Does Austin campus offer all meals who go to office ?

They have gbus for sure, only local public transport is the bus otherwise and canโ€™t recall if thereโ€™s a subsidy but i donโ€™t think so. They used to have free scooters (lime)

Under 1400 youโ€™re looking at south Austin or riverside or round rock

    They offer breakfast and lunch

    • Mueller area is a good balance between price and living not far from downtown. Thereโ€™s some cooler neighborhoods like Hyde park, Clarksville, terrytown but those are all super expensive

There was a transit subsidy, and there is a train in addition to the bus. However, I believe that the gbus goes to the two most useful train stations (Leander and Lakeline), so I doubt many Googlers used the train.

You will find it incredibly easy to own a car in Austin. Everyone drives here.

No we were going to go hybrid on January 4th but delayed due to omicron. Most teams are flexible so remote is ok, but some teams and people want to meet face to face sometimes so there will be offices for that in round rock and parmer.

    1. Yes, before the pandemic you were able to use cap metro for free. That said, there are relatively few places to live where that would be desirable. It's usually easier to bike if you are close or drive if you are far.

    2. I'm not familiar with the apartment market. Probably can get somewhere on the east side for that.

    3. Breakfast + Lunch, no dinner.
