I started working for Amazon last year as an L5 Solution Architect with a TC of 150k Base pay, 56k Sign-On Bonus and 95 RSU's. Salary was based on Central Texas and I thought it was a great pay. Unfortunately, I left just six months into the job because of family issues. I left in good standing with my Senior Manager and now I have been asked to come back. I am hoping to come back as L6 Senior Solution Architect, do you see that as possible and would I see a bump in pay because of it?
So your target comp was close to 210k in Texas? That's solid for an L5
If u got a promo at ur current company, then it would be likely
Did you payback the sign-on?
Sign on is paid out incrementally. You get two amounts, one for 1st year one for 2nd. Maybe $30k first year then 20 for the next for total sign on of 50. Then your first year you get 1/12th of $30k in every paycheck.
Did you miss crying at your desk
I had about 3 years of AWS experience before joining Amazon. My Manager had already spoken about me getting promoted before I left. I am still working with AWS at my current job. My sign-on was splint monthly, so there was no pay back needed. Well I guess as of today my TC would be around 210k, at the time AMZN stock was at 998, so my TC was closer to 190. Crying huh! I love it there!
Most likely you will have to go through a bar raiser if you want to up the level. If there was no material change in your experience may be unlikely they will do that. Last year bar was super low so is much harder now. If it’s still 6m you can come back to the same level wo any interviews.
Yes if there was a material change in your skill set since?
