I’m not planning on leaving anytime soon, but I think this would be my next career choice.

I’m currently L3 working on the sales side of things.

Has anyone had success with this change? If so how did you do it.

So you’re telling me, you wanna leave one of the best companies in the world to slave away 70 hours a week?

(Jk lol, try fishbowl though, more consulting heads over there)

Any reason in particular why you’re drawn to consulting? I’m a former management consultant btw.

I know I’m not OP but to me, consulting sounds cool because you get exposed to different areas and you can strengthen your problem skills. They also say a year in consulting Is equivalent to yearsss of experience. Since many are saying consulting isn’t that great, where else would I be able to get that experience?

I'm not sure it's that simple.
To be worth it (resume-wise), you gotta go MBB or at least a 2nd tier strategy firm (Strategy&, RB, LEK). But that's hard. They don't hire a lot of people directly.
So, your best bet would be to get an MBA first, but that's gonna cost you 2 years and $150k (still worth it IMO).
Having said that, in about 5 years (2 MBA + 3 Consulting), you could boomerang back to G approximately at L6, which is likely faster than what your normal progression within G would be.

Well, that's one way to add a million or so dollars to the GDP while just wasting your life for 5 years and going into a half a house of debt

Just boomerang after 2-3 years with another worthwhile company and skip the MBA and consulting bullshit.

there is 0 chance an L3 could boomerang back to G as an L6 with just 3 more years of work experience and an MBA lol

Even if it was McKinsey + Harvard MBA it's probably an L5 at best and even then HC might down level for low YOE in consulting
