I am getting 103K base + 35 K relocation offer at Gs in NYC. I plan to commute from Hoboken or Jersey City to save costs. Is this a good offer?? Just wondering if this is a good deal. I am new grad with 1 yoe and BS in CS. I am not sure about expenses, taxes in NYC except that rent is high which is why I am planning to live on the other side of the river.
For tech that would be kind of low (by about 15k-30k base) but maybe that's normal for finance.
I think new grads get at least 110K to start in tech division.
So this is a massive lowball? I am from East coast and at first 100k looked lucrative but I guess not for NYC
Did you try and negotiate? If not then try and hold off and get another offer to counter (if you feel prepared and could interview quickly)
Sounds like shitty tc, especially for NYC.
Is this bank teller comp?
There will be dozens of posts telling you it's low comp and it's not good enough. Take my advice and realize there are plenty of people who work in NYC making less. Is it good? Meh. It's better than most of blind started out with (myself included.) NYC is a good place to hop to a next job and if you like the city then absolutely go for it. You will certainly not be starving, despite what blind might say.
