What's better on a resume for a tech professional over a long term? Blackstone or Goldman Sachs or an early stage no name Fintech startup? Also which one increases chances of transitioning to FAANG later on (besides grinding LC) Currently working for one of the portfolio companies of Blackstone. TC: Pebbles YoE 2
Not a huge difference since with both, getting referrals will 90% guarantee you past the resume screening. And from there, it’s all on you. I would go with fintech startup, just because getting referrals is not too hard, but getting experience in a startup experience is rare.
Why not faang now? At both of those you are second class to the actual S&T guys or the PE guys aka what the businesses are known for
I dont feel ready for FAANG right now as haven't invested lot of time on LC. I am hoping that once I get some more experience LC might be less of a factor when applying later on
Why not spend a few months LCing, rather than work for 5-10 years? GS asks algo questions too
Umm. Blackstone. Not remotely close. GS sucks.
Depends on the team at Goldman, lots of variation in tech from standout teams (Marcus, Marquee, Strats, etc) to teams working with antiquated systems, proprietary programming languages, etc.
No such thing as prestige. Once you learn that, you’ll go far.
