I always see ppl complaining about the bad reputation that managers that come from Amazon get, but to be honest I find great to work with them, at least as a business partner. I wonder how it would look like to work FOR them? Maybe they are a completely different monster when you report to them?
Companies like Amazon are huge. It’s like saying I’ve heard people are jerks but I’ve worked with people who are great. Most likely you aren’t working with the exact people from amazon you’ve heard complaints about. Also being a good business partner doesn’t say anything about your management capabilities.
Managers who want all the glory and credit when things go well will go out of their way to give employees tasks without acknowledgement. If a manager is out for themselves, they can seem like a delight to work with outside of the team they manage. It's how some (bad) managers play the game.
