Hi Blind! I'm starting at Two Sigma as a new grad SWE in August and I'm pretty excited :) I'm a CompE major from a decent school who's interested in moving to a QSWE role in the future. Aside from coursework in math/stats, I have worked on Google's modelling infrastructure as an intern and I think my quantitative skills are good for a dev. Team matching is supposed to happen in a couple months for us so I wanted to get general opinions on teams there. Since I'm thinking about moving into QSWE, what are some teams (hopefully with new grad openings) that have a good mix of quantitative and dev work? I've heard quantitative components, modeling tools, and portfolio management engineering might be worth looking into. Any opinions on these teams or suggestions for other teams would be great, thanks! TC: 150/40/75
most of the teams want new grads, so you'll have no problem there. the amount of quantitative knowledge needed for dev work varies. some teams like in platform eng have very little for example.
How did you get an interview with two sigma? Referred?
TC is required before we can answer this question
Actually avoid DE altogether
Seems like you had a good list. Make sure you stay in ME. Maybe Learning Engineering?
is there a difference in pay between swe and qswe?
TC? Offer breakdown?
