I have an Engineering manager reaching out to me from Uber Seattle. The team and project sound very interesting. However, the major layoffs of the past few weeks has me cautious of joining a possible sinking ship. Specially because a large part of my TC will be in RSUs. Uber people (Specially in Seattle), do you recommend I interview or not bother and stay away?
I knew someone who joined Webvan just after the IPO so anything is possible...
Lol
Will you still be excited when the stock drops to 15
Some people live for pain 😉
How much more info do u need to make such a simple decision?
Do not join the driver compliance team, the sr manager is an asshole!
After all the recent news I wonder why do you think its a good time to join?

Which company’s employees are most insecure?
I recommend. Won't be smooth sailing but could pay off big and great learning opportunities
Regarding it not being a smooth sailing, what do you see as big obstacles? More layoffs, or general stress because the business isn't profitable?
More layoffs very unlikely (at worst, more aggressive pip). And yes, there's a risk due to the business not being profitable right now. If you believe in the business (I do, or I wouldn't be here) then the risk is worth it. Worst case, still good experience & learning opportunity
