Google - Austin or mountain view?
SWE currently located in Austin. Google is hiring for cloud in Austin. I've heard bad things about cloud, but considering this is a growing office, looks like there can be good opportunity + the better TC/COL vs the Bay. I'm honestly not thrilled about the Bay, but I do think there are more interesting jobs over there. What do you all think blind? TC 180K
How was the G interview @ Austin? Is it solely algorithms? Or behavorial and system design as well? Thabks

Won't be much of a bump just for moving to the Bay Area. Not enough to make up for the dramatic difference in cost of living. Google Austin is growing. Cloud is growing. I think there will be a good amount of opportunity there over time. But if you're looking to leave Google soon, Bay Area obviously has a bigger ecosystem of tech companies

Most likely not. It's honestly hard to beat what I have in terms of career growth. Though TC can sure use a boost. I just want to interview when I'm reasonably happy with my job and not when I want to get out.

I don't think there is actual cloud development in Austin. What is in Austin is CorpEng. CorpEng has its own downsides (namely that it's internal only), but it doesn't have anything to do with whatever bad things you have heard about cloud.
I believe a friend mentioned most positions are marketing/sales for cloud also
That's true. OP said to that he was a SWE, though. I'm not familiar with with any engineering teams in Austin working on cloud.
If opportunities, then Bay area. Considering cost of living Austin 😅😅
