Does Google hire into its APM program without a technical degree, even if it’s from a top school? I studied economics and work as an APM now with 1 YOE, wondering if it’s even worth applying or if all candidates have CS backgrounds. I regret studying Econ over CS! TC 65k
No, APMs need a technical background.
Thanks, that’s what I figured. I’ll focus my efforts on programs that are open to other backgrounds, but work on developing technical skills in tandem. Appreciate the reply.
If you're already working as an APM, why not apply as a PM directly? At Google, APM is basically an apprenticeship program for new grads. PMs need to be technical, but you can prove it in other ways.
