Google Additional Interview Pre-Hiring Committee
I performed average in the onsite interviews (self realization). Didn't get much time to prepare due to some personal commitments. The recruiter contacted a couple of days later saying the last coding interview feedback wasn't positive. He asked if I wanted to do an additional round of coding interview to which I agreed. I was given fair time to prepare and I did exceptionally well (self realization again). Got an email from recruiter the day after saying you did great at the coding interview but since the previous interviews had a mixed feedback, HC will take a final decision. What are the chances ?

This is fairly common. This means the interviewers liked you, but they are worried that you didn’t show all the skills necessary to pass hiring committee. They want to boost your interview feedback so that you can pass the HC. The HC is a completely different set of people who look only at the feedback and code snippets to make their decisions. If they see that you didn’t do well enough then they won’t hire you. Better to do that additional interview so that you have more ammo to pass HC.

Just curious , can recruiters themselves conduct additional interviews after onsite ?
From what Google interviewers on here told me, getting a strong signal is the most important thing. All hire signals is a maybe and usually leads to a reject.
Hoping the same. Additional interview went really well although first 5 onsite interviews had mixed feedback.
I just went through the same thing, I was so confident I got in but they turned me down. Honestly, it's not worth beating yourself up and wondering about this stuff. It's out of your hands and it takes a lot of luck to end up receiving an offer. Just focus on other companies now, a bunch of other top tech companies will want to interview you if you tell them your application at Google is at the HC stage.
